Essque ZaluEssque ZaluEssque Zalu suite interior

On the very northern tip of the island close to the fishing village of Nungwi.

There are 40 Suites each with separate lounge and bedroom, terrace or balcony, some are Ocean View and some are Garden View. The 9 Villas have either 3 or 4 bedrooms, are on two levels with ground floor patios and upper terraces. Each Villa has a plunge pool, kitchenette, dining area and massage room. Villas are in different categories, Garden, Ocean View and Ocean Front. It goes without saying that all Villas and Suites are furnished and equipped to the very highest standard.

Well, everything any guest could hope for. Three restaurants, spa, large infinity pool, extensive public areas, gymnasium, an art gallery, jetty bar, business centre, meeting rooms, kids club, etc, etc. A unique feature is no Reception desk, you are checked in by your own personal “Navigator” who will be available to help and advise on any matter during your stay. The extensive gardens and sunbathing areas around the infinity pool compensate for the lack of beach in front of the hotel. The Hotel has attempted to be as “green” as possible with solar panels, sewerage treatment plant to clean waste water then used for irrigation, salt chlorinated pool and natural ventilation in public areas rather than air-conditioning.

Gold ZanzibarGold ZanzibarGold Zanzibar

On the north west coast about 1 hour from the airport and Stone Town. The big “plus” about its location is this part of the island is least affected by tides so swimming in the ocean is usually available at all times of the day. Unlike most “resort style” hotels which are isolated from local Zanzibar life, at Gold Zanzibar you can walk up the beach to the fishing village of Nungwi.

Gold Zanzibar has a total of 69 rooms in different categories. There are 10 Deluxe Garden Rooms overlooking the tropical gardens, 42 Deluxe Ocean View Rooms, 2 Ocean View Suites with bedroom and separate sitting area, 12 Beach Suites located adjacent to the beach accommodating up to 4 people, and 3 Luxury Villa Retreats (can accommodate 4 adults and 2 children) for guests looking for ultimate luxury with jacuzzi, private tent on the beach and private butler service. The main restaurant, with open sides and traditional thatched roof serves buffet breakfast and à la carte dinners. The À La Carte Beach Restaurant provides an elegant and private atmosphere with ocean views specialising in fish dishes cooked with local spices. The Beach Bar, open from 8.00AM to 11.0 PM, serves snacks and meals without having to leave the beach. The main bar tends to be where people gather for sunset drinks and after dinner cocktails. There is a swimming pool, shops, Balinese Village spa, internet centre, free wi-fi, and 24 hour room service.

Ocean Paradise Resort

North East Coast – Price Guide: From £65.00 per person Half Board

Even though Ocean Paradise is one of the larger hotels on Zanzibar with 92 rooms, the architecture and buildings are in keeping with Zanzibar and Africa, much of hotel complex being designed to replicate a Masai village. Due to the steep terrain of the site, we do not recommend Ocean Paradise to people with restricted mobility.

On the north east coast approximately 1 hours drive from Stone Town and the Airport.

The rooms, some in individual rondavels, some in bungalows with 2 rooms and others in 2 storey buildings set above the main gardens are all circular and furnished to a high standard; they have a minibar (with drinks, surprisingly at the same price as the bar), TV with 19 channels, direct dial telephone, separate dressing area and spacious toilet and shower area. Each room has a private balcony, many with sea views and some with garden views. There are 8 suites, 42 double and 42 twin rooms; 16 of the rooms are inter-connecting suitable for families.

The main public area is set above the gardens; the imposing building houses a spacious reception area, a bar which is imaginatively designed to provide private sitting areas, shop, excursion desk and the hotels main restaurant where buffet meals are served. Beside the large swimming pool there is also a bar and a la carte restaurant where on some evenings there are bar-b-ques. Also adjacent to the pool is a well equipped water sports centre providing for a wide range of activities, a fitness centre and beauty/massage centre.

West Coast – Price Guide: From £64.00 per person Half Board
